BEFORE YOU START: If you are still in the early stages of setting up your Shopify store, we recommend installing the app integration as the last step before launching your store. You will need to meet the following criteria to set up the app integration:
- Your products in Shopify must be set up and set to active.
- All Favorites must be built and saved to your account on simplyframed.com. For guidelines on building Favorites, please view this article and jump down to Step 4 of these instructions.
- If you will be printing with Simply Framed, email hello@simplyframed.com to request a shared Dropbox location to house your artwork files. Do not attempt to create your own Dropbox location. For guidelines on creating this folder, jump down to Step 4 - Column E of these instructions.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS: If you need help at any stage of this process, please contact hello@simplyframed.com or schedule a 1-on-1 appointment here.
- Download the new Simply Framed Pro App here. Please accept the permissions so that the app can access the necessary information in your store. Please note, this is a private app and can not be found on the Shopify app store. → Click on ‘Simply Framed Pro App’ to launch the App.
- The dashboard will confirm how many products are linked to your store. The first time you log in, it will show that zero items are linked. → Click on the ‘Link Products’ button.
- Then, click on the ‘Data Template’ link to download the file. Please note, this may take a few minutes to generate depending on the number of products in your store. The Data Template will automatically download to your computer as an XLS file. We recommend opening in Google Sheets as it will be easier to read the columns.
- The Data Template will pull your product information (Variant ID, SKU, TITLE) from your Shopify store and pull Favorites from simplyframed.com at the time of download. Please DO NOT alter the tabs or information in the Favorites tab. → Please view the video instructions and breakdown of the Data Template, per column, below. This breakdown pertains to the ‘Mapping’ tab of the Data Template.

COLUMN A - Variant ID
- This column will be auto-filled by your Shopify store.
- TIP: If you offer various options per product (different sizes, frame colors, etc.), the app will read products with the standard variant structure as suggested by Shopify. You will be able to link a Favorite per product variant.
COLUMN B - SKU
- This column will be auto-filled by your Shopify store.
COLUMN C - Title
- This column will be auto-filled by your Shopify store.
COLUMN D - Favorite
- The Favorites you built on simplyframed.com will populate in a dropdown menu in each cell of column D. Select the appropriate Favorite for the corresponding product in Column A.
- TIP: To prevent this process from becoming overwhelming, we recommend using the filter function. Filtering products by size will allow you to apply the same Favorite in bulk. For example:
- Filter by Condition → Text Contains (i.e. ‘12x16 white no mat’) → Copy the corresponding Favorite from the ‘Favorite’ tab and paste into the first two rows of column D → Shift+command+down arrow → Command+D to fill all rows with the same Favorite.
- TIP: Please make sure you select the correctly orientated favorite (14x11" vs. 11x14"). Width x Height! Favorites must be set up for both horizontal and vertical orientations if you offer both options in your store.
- TIP: If you are offering Print Only products, you will need to save Favorites per size and paper type you offer. Do not save the Favorite with an image attached for Print Only or Print & Frame Favorites; here’s an article on how to remove an image from a favorite.
- TIP: For Full Service Favorites, double-check that the correct mail-in method is selected.
COLUMN E - ARTWORK FILENAME
***ONLY fill out this column if Simply Framed is printing your artwork.***
- If you haven’t already, email Anna@simplyframed.com to request a shared Dropbox location to house your artwork files. Do not attempt to create your own Dropbox location.
- Do not create folders within the Dropbox folder; this will cause the links to fail.
- For each product, enter the corresponding filename. The file name MUST match the file in the Dropbox folder exactly, including the “.jpg” portion.
- Each image in the Dropbox folder must be sized to the desired print size. i.e. If you offer the same image in multiple sizes, please include a file per image size.
COLUMN F - TOKEN
- This column is automatically generated based on the Favorite and filename entered in the previous columns. DO NOT edit this column.
5. Once the template is complete, export the file as an XLS file and upload it back into the Simply Framed Pro App (see below). It will take a few minutes for your products to be linked. You will receive a confirmation on the screen once your products are linked. If there are any issues during this process, you will be notified on the screen.
