Why do you use acrylic instead of glass?

We use UV-filtering acrylic for all frames, except Canvas which does not require any glass, and Max Plexibox which is made from Lucite. You can also design your frame with no acrylic, although this means your piece will not be protected from the elements.

UV-filtering acrylic is the best option and has become the industry standard. Acrylic is lighter than glass, scratch-resistant, and shatter-resistant. It also provides more UV protection and less glare than glass. While a bit more expensive than glass, the quality and protection acrylic offers is so good that most art sellers and galleries are using it—and so should you.

Our standard Acrylic filters ~85-89% of UV and 92% of light. We offer upgrades to Non-Glare Acrylic, 99% UV Acrylic, and Tru Vue Optium.
